Chicago Footwork Prevents Violence
Teenagers in Chicago are ten times more likely to fall victim to gun violence than Illinois teens who live outside the city. During the 2007-2008 school year alone, 32 high school students in the city were murdered in senseless acts of gun violence. As communities, educators, public officials and law enforcement scramble to address the violence, young people in the city use art and dance to spark dialogue and forge solutions.
