Progressive Latin Label Offers Freebie
North Hollywood, California-based progressive Latin music label Nacional is offering a sensational free label sampler.
The free download compilation is available for one month via Amazon and you can grab it here.
Nacional's artistic vision is broad and replete with stylistic variety -- their electronic, rock, Cumbia, reggae -- y mas -- music is killer. They have by far one of the most complete rosters anywhere. In addition, their band's messages are as exciting as the sounds.
Nacional artists such as Spain's Manu Chao ("Politik Kills") and Colombia's Aterciopelados ("Cancion Protesta") make explicitly political music, which also happens to be wickedly danceable.

Founder Tomas Cookman was heralded for his work by the LA Weekly's Jonny Whiteside who wrote:
"Tomas Cookman, founder-president of exotic indie imprint Nacional Records, is nothing less than a self-propelled phenom. Although the label is just shy of five years old, it has consistently churned out scads of intriguing, idiosyncratic Latin pop, all of it of a wildly variegated order, from established rock royals Aterciopelados and Los Fabulosos Cadillacs to such brilliant techno upstarts as Nortec Collective, the Pinker Tones, DJ Bitman and the Mexican Institute of Sound."
In addition to their politically progressive artists, Nacional press officer Josh Norek also works at the amazing Voto Latino, one of American's most important new immigrant rights organizations.
So download this awesome comp, and get down to sounds that are as righteous as they are groovy!
